What is a microgreen?

Microgreens are vegetable and herbs greens harvested just after the cotyledon leaves, the first leaf produced by the plant also known as "seed leaves," because they are actually part of the seed or embryo of the plant. There are over 50 different varieties of microgreens.

Microgreens are used as nutritional supplements, a visual enhancement, and a flavor and texture enhancement.

How are your mircrogreens grown?

. At Casperville Creations we purchase only local organic mircrogreen seeds. Grown in organic soil and fertilizers and watered with non chlorinated filtered water in a controlled environment, monitoring air temperature, CO2, humidity, and air circulation to provide the optimal environment for our crops to grow. By controlling the environment we can produce consistent results year-round.

What are the health benefits of mircrogreens?

Microgreens are packed with vitamins such as vitamin A, C, K and E, minerals such as potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper. Mircogreens also contain polyphenols, a antioxidant compound that are known to relieve the build-up of free radicals in your body. Free radicals are molecules or atoms which can inflict damage on cells and therefore sometimes lead to chronic disease.

How should I store my microgreens?

Microgreens should be kept between 36°F and 38°F to avoid drastic changes in temperature to preserve freshness. Micro Basil should be stored at 50°F.
